Long Hairstyles For Women Over 40 - Good Or Bad?

Long Hairstyles For Women Over 40 - Good Or Bad?

We all love long hair at any age, but once we start getting into our 40's really long hair doesn't look as good on us any longer. This doesn't stand true for everyone but most who are just wearing their long hair in a ponytail really need to start looking into a more attractive hair style that is shorter and just as easy to take care of.

Problems with long hair on women over 40 is:

Long hair tends to drag ones features down and usually has less life and no volume. Yet you see women over 40 with hair that has no life but are afraid to cut it. The longer your hair is the heavier its going to be, which if it's all one length your hair will look flat and life less. Its very unattractive for anyone with hair that is long with no life because it can add to your age not take away from it. Another problem is when you take all that time to style it, the style doesn't last more than an hour without tons of product it in. Again too much product will drag your hair down and make it limp. Just throwing your hair into a ponytail cause you don't want to deal with it, doesn't look well on you either.

A great example of a good hair style for women over 40 would be Meg Ryan's A-line Bob. Her hair is naturally curly but when she wears it natural, it works for a 'do' for a night on the town or a busy day at the office. Easy to work with, and it you can wear it at any age even grandmothers in the 60's.

Hairstyles that are A-line with layers and shoulder length with shaggy layers are two very workable styles for today's women over 40. Cuts such as Victoria Beckman are great for the younger crowd but are too harsh for those over 40.

One thing you need to take into account is one's shape of one's face. It becomes a huge factor in finding the right style for you. Don't forget that color is also a factor in your hairstyle as well as lifestyle. Gray hair is great but you don't need to have it with so many choice of colors you can get these days. Covering up your gray isn't considered wrong in today world it has become more of a statement you're too hip to be gray. Covering gray isn't like it used to be, it can be done quickly with too much trouble by a good hairstylist.

Don't make the mistake that all over one color is best because it can age you worse than just leaving in the gray alone. Look for a hairstylist that can explain better what high lights, and or low lights can do to help open up your face making it look younger. It's time to start thinking about having bangs, even if they are just wispy ones because bangs take away from your age not add to it. Parting your hair down the middle and just letting it hang there is just too old for you! Start thinking about actresses you see that are over 40 and you will see that they are changing up their hair styles to look younger. Take pictures with you to your next haircut of anyone who you know to be over 40 with a hairstyle you really like. A good hairstylist will let you know if your hair is right for that cut.

Take the time to start thinking about hairstyles you like, but remember you don't need to go super short either. Not everyone can pull off Jamie Lee Curtis latest pixie cut. Hairstyles are highly personal and based on lots of different factors, talking with your hairstylist about how much time you are willing to take in the morning for a new hairstyle. She/He will be able to help you decide what works for you. Changing up your hairstyle can add life, luster and fun back to your life.

Jessica Simpson Hairstyles Tips Uncovered

Jessica Simpson Hairstyles Tips Uncovered

Jessica Simpson hairstyles are widely known for their beauty, sophistication, and overall elegance, and they can easily be copied and worn by almost anyone. She loves to change her hairstyles several times a year, going from long to short and from light to dark. Jessica is most commonly known for her long blonde hair which she loves to wear in beautiful, volume filled curls, but has also been seen sporting short styles that really help to show off her amazing complexion.

Jessica Simpson loves to add volume to her hair, and it's easy for her since she has amazingly thick hair. She uses a large curling iron along with a spray gel to keep the curls in place, and using curlers and sleeping in them overnight can achieve the same look. The best way to add volume is to start at the bottom and curl the hair underneath, and then work your way up to the hair on top. Teasing the hair with a comb or brush will add additional volume, and you can use hairspray to keep everything in place.

Curling each chunk of hair in a different direction will help to add volume to thin hair, and a layered cut can also make thin hair look amazing. Jessica Simpson's long cascading curls can easily be duplicated, and look great at both formal and casual outings.

The bob is another one of the amazing Jessica Simpson hairstyles that almost anyone would love to have. The cut is fairly simple, and can be achieved with long and textured layers along with bangs that sweep to the side. The length can range from right below the ears all the way down to the shoulders, whichever you prefer for your face shape. Styling is fairly simple, and involves a volume spray, wax spray to add texture, and a shine product as well.

The volume spray works best on towel dried hair, and works great to make even the flattest hair stand out. The wax works great at defining the different lengths of the layers, and also helps to add volume as well. The shine product is great for those with dry or damaged hair, since it leaves the hair looking smooth and healthy. Those with extra moisture in their hair may want to avoid this product. Use a round brush to finish off the look, or even a curling iron for added volume.

Because Jessica Simpson hairstyles can be both blonde and brunette, it is important that she keeps her hair healthy when dying it frequently. Although dying your hair at home is easy and cheap, a hair stylist at a salon will be able to keep your hair healthy even when you dye it on a frequent basis. Because strong chemicals must be used when changing from dark to light hair, it is important that the hair is properly conditioned in order to prevent split ends and damaged hair.

A hairstylist will know how to properly prepare the hair before it is dyed, as well as condition it afterwards in order to prevent any damage from occurring. Although a hair salon will cost more to dye your hair, it is very beneficial in the long run since you won't have to worry about chemical conditioning treatments in order to reverse the damage that store bought dye can cause.

If you are looking to change your hairstyle and try something new, you should try out one of the many fabulous Jessica Simpson hairstyles.

Hot Short Hairstyles For 2009

Hot Short Hairstyles For 2009

Looking for the hot short hairstyles for 2009? You don't have look too far. While long hair abounds (and is beautiful), short hair is "in" and the best styles for 2009 are right in front of us!

Jennifer Aniston and Victoria Beckham are two celebrities whose hairstyles have spawned worldwide trends. While Jennifer Aniston's tousled hair had a certain irresistible and timeless charm, it is Victoria Beckham's latest pixie cut that is currently sending women rushing to make appointments with their hairdressers. Should you join the crowd in an attempt to be hip and happening or should you make an appointment for a unique short cut that will help you stand out from the crowd?

What to Consider Before You Cut

Not every trendy design is meant for every woman. While most women will be able pull off at least one of the many short hairstyles, there are some things you need to think about before you decide which one.

  • Your Age- Age does play a factor. Overly trendy cuts of the moment can make a more mature woman look like she trying too hard to look younger than she really is.
  • Your Face Shape - Face shape also plays a very important role in determining whether a cut will work on you or not. Instead of just looking at the hair itself when looking at photos you are considering, look at the face shape of the celebrity or model. If you cannot find an example of a hair style on a person with your face shape, there is probably a very good reason.
  • Your Lifestyle - Another thing you need to consider when deciding which of the hot short hairstyles you'd like to try for 2009 is your lifestyle and personality type. Some cuts require much more maintenance than others. Be realistic and don't opt for a design that you will never have the time or patience to maintain. A style that looks as it was intended is always much more attractive than a great cut that is never fixed properly.

What Short Hairstyles Should You Consider?

If your face is thin and angular, go for the super short pixie do sported by fabulous celebs like Victoria Beckham and Alyssa Milano. If these cut seems a little too severe for your tastes, opt for a very short shag instead. This hairstyle is best on round and square face shapes because the longer pieces towards the front help to add needed angles to the face. Ovals should avoid the short shag.

The short bob is definitely one of the hottest cuts for 2009. Celebrities of all ages can be seen sporting a version of the short bob including Paris Hilton and Kelly Clarkson. The 2009 bob does not have to be worn straight. Curly and wavy versions of this hairstyle are also very popular this year. This is a great style for almost every face shape except those that are very round. It is also very low maintenance and can be styled in a variety of ways for different looks.
